RAINFOREST & RAINFOREST ANIMALS
The Daintree rainforest is one of Australia’s
most beautiful scenes…where tall luscious rainforest sweeps
down off rugged mountain peaks and long white sandy beaches are
lapped by the clear blue oceans of the Coral Sea.
The Daintree Rainforest is 135-million years old and is the most
ancient and primitive in the world. During the Ice Ages, when the
climate was cooler and drier, the Australian rainforests retreated
and survived in small moist pockets, and the rainforest has existed
continuously in these areas for over 100 million years. The Cape
Tribulation area is one such pocket or refuge.
The rainforest is home to some of the most exotic and colourful
species of plant and animal not only in Australia but also in the
World. An adventurers paradise, there is much to see and do. From
Cassowary to Crocodile the Daintree has it all.
The high temperatures, humidity and rainfall which
occurs throughout the year on the Daintree Coast, provides the right
conditions for Tropical Fruit Trees which are normally only found
in the Caribbean, the Amazon, and South East Asia.
Botanists, ornithologists, herpetologists, zoologists, mathematicians,
pilots, labourers, tourists, kids, normal people and CEO’s
will all be able to equally share and appreciate this magical place.
The Daintree has an abundance of good walking trails and organized
activities abound, but there are also plenty of opportunities to
get away from it all and discover the rainforest for oneself.
